Lazy dumplings
Origin of the recipe
Varenyky are considered a traditional Ukrainian dish. In fact, their origins are in Turkey, where Ukrainians adopted them during the Ottoman Empire, only slightly modifying the recipe. The beauty of lazy varenyky is that they can be prepared in advance, packaged in bags, and frozen for future use, allowing you to quickly whip up a delicious, filling, and healthy breakfast any morning.

Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Place cottage cheese, sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a bowl, add the chicken egg and mix.
Step 2:
Add wheat flour and vanilla to the cottage cheese and place it on a flat, clean surface and gently knead with your hands for about 1.5 - 2 minutes.
Step 3:
Sprinkle flour over the dough.
Step 4:
Divide the dough into two parts and roll them into sausages with a diameter of approximately 3 centimeters.
Step 5:
Cut the sausages into equal pieces 1-1.5 cm wide.
Step 6:
Roll each piece into a ball and flatten it on both sides with a fork. To prevent the dough from sticking to the fork, dip it in flour.
Step 7:
Boil water in a saucepan and add 1 teaspoon of salt.
Step 8:
Place the dumplings in water.
Step 9:
Once all the vareniki float to the surface, cook for another 30 seconds. Remove the cooked vareniki from the water.
Cooking tips
Before serving, it's best to strain the cottage cheese through a sieve or mash it in a blender. This will ensure a smooth, pleasant-tasting batter.
Add flour to the dough very carefully, so as not to overdo it. Otherwise, you'll end up with overcooked buns, not lazy vareniki.
After placing the dumplings in the water, you need to stir them immediately so that they do not stick to the bottom.
