Cinnabons, delicate cinnamon rolls developed in 1985 in Seattle by pastry chefs Rich and Greg Komen, are now known worldwide. They're not only available at the eponymous bakery chain; anyone can bake them at home—it's so easy!

Step-by-step recipe

Step 1:

Pour warm milk into a bowl and add yeast.

Step 2:

Add a tablespoon of sugar, salt and a tablespoon of flour from the total amount.

Step 3:

Stir and let the dough rise for 15-20 minutes.

Step 4:

Add the remaining sugar, vanilla sugar and salt.

Step 5:

Add the egg and mix well.

Step 6:

Sift flour in small portions and knead the dough, first with a spoon in a bowl and then with your hands on the kitchen surface.

Step 7:

Gather the dough into a single ball, place it in a bowl, pour in melted butter and knead for another 3-4 minutes.

Step 8:

Place the dough in a deep bowl greased with vegetable oil.

Step 9:

Cover the dough with cling film and a towel and place in a warm place to rise for 1 hour.

Step 10:

For the filling, mix melted butter with sugar and cinnamon.

Step 11:

Place the risen dough on a floured surface, sprinkle the top with flour as well and roll it out into a rectangle approximately 40 x 30 cm.

Step 12:

Spread the filling over the dough, leaving 1-1.5 cm from the bottom and side edges and 3-4 cm from the top edge.

Step 13:

Roll the dough into a roll and pinch the seam well.

Step 14:

Place the roll seam side down and cut into 12 pieces.

Step 15:

Place the dough pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let rise for about 30 minutes.

Step 16:

Place the buns in an oven preheated to 180 degrees Celsius. After 15-20 minutes, pour in the cream and bake for another 10-15 minutes.

Step 17:

For the topping, combine cream cheese with softened butter and powdered sugar.

Step 18:

Remove the buns, let them rest for 2-3 minutes and cover with topping.

Step 19:

Cool the buns and serve.

Cooking tips

If the dough quickly forms a foamy cap, the yeast is working. If not, repeat with fresher yeast. The edge of the dough without the filling should be wide enough to ensure the roll sticks together and doesn't unravel. Place the buns loosely on the baking sheet—they'll rise noticeably within half an hour.

Hello! Yes, you can drizzle it with sour cream; it will add a slightly tart flavor to the topping. It's best to use full-fat sour cream (20% or more) to prevent the topping from running. Cream cheese and soft butter will give a more delicate, creamy taste. Happy cooking!
