Wontons are a type of traditional Chinese dumpling. They are filled not only with meat (usually pork), but also with mushrooms and young bamboo shoots. These dumplings are most often boiled in soup, but there is also a fried version. This is the kind of wonton we suggest you make.

Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Place flour in a bowl, add salt, water, beat in an egg and mix with your hand.
Step 2:
While stirring, pour in water and knead the dough in a bowl.
Step 3:
Crush the cilantro, garlic and white pepper in a mortar.
Step 4:
Place the minced pork in a bowl and add the prepared seasonings.
Step 5:
Add the starch, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and finely chopped green onions. Mix thoroughly with a fork.
Step 6:
Roll out the dough thinly and cut into 10 x 10 cm squares.
Step 7:
Place half a teaspoon of filling in the center of each square and fold into a triangle.
Step 8:
Pinch the ends of the triangle together. Repeat with all the wontons.
Step 9:
Heat oil in a saucepan or wok to 325 degrees and fry the wontons for 1 minute, turning constantly.
Step 10:
Serve with sweet chili sauce or your favorite sauce.
Cooking tips
Roll out the wonton dough as thinly as possible.
Don't put too much filling into the wontons, as the meat needs to cook through within 1 minute.
Wet the sharp corners of the triangle with water to help them stick together better.
Place the finished dumplings on paper towels to remove excess oil.
