Onion soup
Origin of the recipe
Onions are often thought of as a seasoning, but in this famous French dish, they are the main ingredient. In ancient times, this soup was the food of the poor, as onions were always very cheap. Since then, the soup's recipe has become more complex. It is usually prepared individually and served in a serving bowl, in which it is baked under garlic croutons and grated cheese.
