Step-by-step recipe:
Step 1:
Pour 500 g of flour into a bowl, add sugar, salt, baking powder and mix.
Step 2:
Add the diced butter and rub in with your fingers until crumbly.
Step 3:
Break two eggs into a clean bowl, add water and mix with a fork.
Step 4:
Pour the eggs into the crumbs and mix.
Step 5:
Turn the dough out onto a clean surface and knead until smooth.
Step 6:
Wrap the dough in cling film and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Step 7:
Pour 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil into the frying pan.
Step 8:
Finely chop the onion, place in a frying pan and fry until golden brown.
Step 9:
Finely dice the carrots, add to the pan and cook, stirring.
Step 10:
Add ground beef, stir and cook for 4-5 minutes until it changes color.
Step 11:
Add salt, pepper, thyme and stir.
Step 12:
Add diced potatoes and stir.
Step 13:
Pour in beef broth or water, stir, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Step 14:
Add 2 tablespoons of flour, stir and cook until thickened.
Step 15:
Remove the pan from the heat and let the filling cool.
Step 16:
Divide the dough into 4 parts.
Step 17:
Roll out each piece with a rolling pin and cut the dough into circles using a bowl.
Step 18:
Place 1-2 tablespoons of filling in the center of each circle.
Step 19:
Brush one edge of the circle with water, fold it in half and seal with your fingers and a fork.
Step 20:
Place the pies on a baking sheet lined with paper, prick each one with a fork and brush the pies with egg.
Step 21:
Bake for 25-30 minutes at 175 degrees until golden brown.
Step 22:
Cool slightly and serve.
Cooking tips:
Add the egg to the dough gradually, stirring – this will make the dough more homogeneous.
Don't put too much filling in the pies, otherwise they may open up.
Don't forget to poke holes in the pies, otherwise the filling will boil and they will burst in the oven.
