Not everyone enjoys fussing over anything more complicated than sandwiches, scrambled eggs, or pancakes in the morning—after all, they have to get ready and run to work. But on the weekend, you can allow yourself to show off your culinary talents and make something unusual—for example, golden-brown unleavened dough pockets with banana filling. This isn't the fastest recipe, but it's quite simple, and the results will delight you and especially your children.
Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Place flour in a bowl, add salt and mix well.
Step 2:
Pour in half a glass of warm water and mix thoroughly until dough flakes form.
Step 3:
Add vegetable oil, knead the dough with your hand until smooth, cover tightly with plastic wrap and leave for 20 minutes.
Step 4:
Knead the dough again, place it on a board and divide into 4 parts.
Step 5:
Roll each piece into a ball, gradually folding the dough inward.
Step 6:
Roll the balls in vegetable oil, cover with film and a towel and leave for at least 2 hours.
Step 7:
Grease a board with vegetable oil, lay out a piece of dough, stretch it with your hands and roll it out thinly with a rolling pin into a rectangle.
Step 8:
Trim the edges with a pizza cutter.
Step 9:
Peel and thinly slice the bananas.
Step 10:
Place the sliced banana in three stacks of slices in the center of the dough and fold the dough into an envelope - first along the long sides, then along the short ones.
Step 11:
Grease a frying pan with oil and place the envelope on it, greasing the top with oil.
Step 12:
When the envelope side is browned, turn it over.
Step 13:
Fry again briefly on both sides until golden brown.
Step 14:
Repeat with the remaining dough and bananas.
Cooking tips
For the filling, it is better to use ripe, medium-sized bananas.
Bananas need to be peeled completely, removing not only the peel, but also the white strips of fiber on the sides.
If you want the envelopes to be sweeter, sprinkle the bananas with sugar before wrapping.
This recipe is definitely not suitable for breakfast. Leaving the dough to rise for 20 minutes is fine, but then leaving it for 2 hours?
