Everyone knows potato chips, but you can make even more interesting and savory snacks with potatoes. For example, crispy rings with garlic and green onions will please both adults and children. Potato rings can be eaten on their own or as a beer snack; they're quite easy to make.
Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Peel 2 large potatoes, cut into cubes, place in a baking dish and cover tightly with cling film, piercing holes in it.
Step 2:
Microwave for 7 minutes at 700 watts.
Step 3:
Finely chop the green onions.
Step 4:
Check the readiness of the potatoes with a stick and mash them well with a masher.
Step 5:
Melt 20 grams of unsalted butter in a deep frying pan.
Step 6:
Fry the chopped garlic in oil.
Step 7:
Pour in 100 ml of water, add a teaspoon of salt and stir.
Step 8:
Add 4 tablespoons of flour and mix.
Step 9:
Add mashed potatoes, stir and turn off the stove.
Step 10:
Place the mixture into a baking dish and smooth it out.
Step 11:
Add 4 tablespoons of potato starch and green onions, mix well and knead the dough.
Step 12:
Place the dough on a flat surface and roll it out with a rolling pin to a thickness of 0.5 mm.
Step 13:
Take a round cookie cutter with a diameter of 6 cm and cut out circles.
Step 14:
Use a 3.5cm cookie cutter to cut out the centres to form rings.
Step 15:
Place the rings in a deep frying pan with hot oil and fry, turning over, until they turn yellow.
Step 16:
Remove the finished rings and place the next batch into the oil.
Step 17:
Place the finished rings in a pan lined with paper towels. Serve with your favorite sauce.
Cooking tips
If you don't have the right dough cutters, roll the dough into sausage shapes and form them into rings. Frying potato rings in hot oil is essential; frying in the oven or air fryer without oil won't achieve the desired crispy texture. Leftover dough can be stored in the freezer or refrigerator for 1-2 days.
