Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Boil 5 eggs hard.
Step 2:
Peel, dice and boil the potatoes in salted water until soft.
Step 3:
Cut the onion into medium-sized pieces.
Step 4:
Melt the butter in a deep frying pan, add the onion and fry, stirring.
Step 5:
Add vegetable oil, stir and fry until golden brown.
Step 6:
Add three tablespoons of flour and mix.
Step 7:
Pour in the vegetable broth and bring to a boil, stirring.
Step 8:
Pour in the milk, stir and reduce the heat to low.
Step 9:
Add mustard and horseradish, stir.
Step 10:
Add salt, pepper and stir.
Step 11:
Add the boiled potatoes, stir and remove the pan from the heat.
Step 12:
Divide the potatoes and gravy among plates.
Step 13:
Chop the dill and sprinkle it over the potatoes in the bowls.
Step 14:
Cut each egg in half and top each serving with two egg halves.
Cooking tips
Vegetarians can omit the eggs, and vegans can use margarine and plant-based milk instead of butter. Be careful not to overcook the onions, otherwise the flavor will become harsh. You can use store-bought or homemade vegetable broth.
