Fried potatoes seem like a simple thing, but there are some tricks to it. You need to cook them crispy without overcooking, drying them out, or leaving them half-baked. This recipe will help you make truly delicious potatoes.
Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Peel the potatoes. Cut them into thin rounds (or halves), place them on a plate, and cover with a microwave-safe lid.
Step 2:
Microwave the potatoes for 4 minutes at 800 watts.
Step 3:
Cut the potatoes into large cubes.
Step 4:
Pour vegetable oil into the frying pan and melt the butter in it.
Step 5:
Place the potatoes in the pan and fry for 1-2 minutes over medium heat.
Step 6:
Mix the potatoes, add salt, dried garlic, black pepper and mix.
Step 7:
Fry the potatoes for 5 minutes over medium heat. Sprinkle with paprika and stir.
Step 8:
Let the potatoes fry for 10 minutes over low heat.
Cooking tips
When frying potatoes, stir them at least every 3 minutes. Without stirring, the potatoes will begin to brown and lose their flavor. If you stir them constantly, they will partially fall apart because they won't have a crust to hold their shape.
The potatoes don't necessarily have to be cut into large pieces. Everyone has their own preference, so if you like your potatoes finely chopped, cut them smaller and cook them that way.
