Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Break two eggs into a bowl, stir with a whisk, add sugar, stir again.
Step 2:
Place the eggs and sugar in a water bath, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
Step 3:
Beat with a mixer on high speed for 4-5 minutes.
Step 4:
Add vanilla extract and mix on low speed for 30 seconds.
Step 5:
Add flour, baking powder, and almond powder to the resulting mixture. Mix with a spatula.
Step 6:
Mix some of the dough with melted butter in a separate bowl, return to the main bowl and mix.
Step 7:
Place the dough in a round baking pan lined with parchment paper, tapping the pan on the table to level the dough.
Step 8:
Sprinkle with flaked almonds on top.
Step 9:
Bake for 30-35 minutes at 170-180 degrees.
Step 10:
Remove the finished cake from the pan, place it on a plate and serve with tea.
Cooking tips
To avoid getting extra utensils dirty, you can use the attachments from a switched-off mixer instead of a whisk.
Vary the baking temperature and time within the specified range depending on the characteristics of your oven.
You can make your own almond petals for decoration; they will look more aesthetically pleasing, but you can also buy ready-made ones.
To make it easier for the finished cake to come out of the pan, drop the pan from a small height onto the table several times.
