Christmas cake Stollen
Origin of the recipe
Stollen means "slab," which describes its shape. The oval shape of this cake and its white topping also symbolize the swaddled Christ Child. This rich cake, made from heavy yeast dough with generous amounts of butter, raisins, and candied fruit, has been baked in Germany for Christmas since the 14th century.
