Step 3:
Prepare the herring: remove the skin and bones, then finely chop the fish fillet.
Step 4:
Spread this layer evenly over the potatoes.
Step 5:
Grate the boiled carrots and add them as the next layer. Grease the carrots with mayonnaise.
Step 6:
Chop the crab sticks with a knife and place them on the carrot layer. Smooth them out with a fork.
Step 7:
Finely grate the boiled egg whites and place them on a layer of crab sticks. Grease everything with mayonnaise.
Step 8:
Grate the boiled beets and add the final layer. Grease the beets with mayonnaise.
Step 9:
Decorate the top of the salad: grate the yolks of boiled eggs on a fine grater and sprinkle them evenly over the entire surface.
Step 10:
Carefully remove the ring from the pan to create a beautiful layered dish. Let the salad sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.
Cooking tips
To ensure the herring under a fur coat with crab is especially tender, use high-quality mayonnaise and don't skimp on each layer—this is the key to juiciness.
For better shape and even layers, be sure to use a ring. If you don't have one, you can use a deep plate or mold, but the result will be less impressive.
Before grating the vegetables, make sure they have cooled completely – hot ingredients will make the salad watery.
If you want to make the recipe more dietary, replace some of the mayonnaise with natural yogurt or sour cream.
To serve, cut the salad into neat pieces so guests can admire all the vibrant layers.
