If you don't have the energy to bake or your oven is broken, but you were hoping to delight your guests with a homemade cake, don't despair! Even a novice cook can make this no-bake cookie cake, and it tastes just as good as a classic sponge cake!
Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Pour milk into a saucepan and heat over low heat.
Step 2:
Break eggs into a bowl, add sugar and beat with a mixer for a couple of minutes.
Step 3:
Add flour and beat again until smooth.
Step 4:
Pour in half of the hot milk in a thin stream, continuing to whisk.
Step 5:
Continue heating the remaining milk until almost boiling and pour the egg-milk mixture into it in a thin stream, stirring constantly.
Step 6:
Bring to a boil over low heat and cook for 2 minutes, whisking constantly.
Step 7:
Pour the finished cream into a clean bowl, add vanilla sugar, and butter. Whisk until smooth.
Step 8:
Place a layer of cookies on the bottom of a deep pan and generously pour hot cream over them.
Step 9:
Lay out the remaining layers in the same way.
Step 10:
Top with cream and sprinkle with cookie crumbs.
Step 11:
Place the cake in the refrigerator overnight or for 24 hours to soak.
Cooking tips
Pour the hot milk into the egg mixture in a thin stream, stirring vigorously to prevent the eggs from becoming lumpy.
You can use cookies of two different types, or all of the same type.
The longer the cake soaks in the refrigerator, the more tender it will be.
