Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Clean the fish, rinse, dry and lightly coat with cornstarch on all sides.
Step 2:
Heat a wok, add vegetable oil and fry the fish over medium heat.

Dissolve cornstarch in water.

Finely chop the onion, crush the garlic and fry in a wok.

Step 9:
Pour the sauce over the fish and garnish with chopped green onions.
Cooking tips
You can use any fish you like. It should fit entirely in the wok.
To fry the fish tail, tilt the wok on its side.
Bean paste can be purchased at Asian grocery stores.
