Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Prepare the crab meat/crab sticks. Take a package of crab sticks and carefully peel them. On a cutting board, cut them into small cubes. Transfer the chopped crab sticks to a deep bowl.
Step 2:
Prepare the salad. Wash the lettuce leaves thoroughly. Peel them on a cutting board and cut them into thin strips or tear them finely by hand. Place the prepared salad in a bowl with the remaining ingredients.
Step 3:
Work with the eggs. Boil the eggs until done, then cool them under cold water to make them easier to handle. Then peel them. Cut the eggs into small cubes and add them to the crab sticks in the bowl.
Step 4:
Add the corn. Open a can of corn. Drain all the liquid to prevent the salad from becoming too runny. Add the corn to a bowl.
Step 5:
Prepare the pomegranate. Take one ripe pomegranate and cut it in half. Carefully remove the seeds, being careful not to damage the white membrane inside the fruit. Place them in a bowl. You can do this step ahead of time to avoid staining your clothes.
Step 6:
Now that all the ingredients are ready, add mayonnaise or sour cream to the bowl, depending on your preference. Start with a small amount, then gradually increase until you reach the desired consistency. Gently mix all the ingredients until they are evenly distributed.
Step 7:
Transfer the finished crab salad with pomegranate to a beautiful platter or plate. For added impact, garnish the top with a few brightly colored pomegranate seeds. Serve immediately to keep the salad fresh and crisp.
Cooking tips
To enhance the flavor, lightly season the salad with salt and pepper before adding the mayonnaise. You can also add a pinch of sugar to balance the tartness of the pomegranate.
The main mistake is using too much mayonnaise. Always add it little by little, tasting the salad constantly. Too much sauce will make the dish heavy and tasteless.
If you don't have crab sticks, you can replace them with real crab meat or even squid.
For those watching their figure, use low-fat sour cream instead of mayonnaise.
As shown in the video, the salad is best served on a tall plate to give it a full, appetizing appearance. Garnish with fresh herbs or dill sprigs.
All ingredients except the pomegranate can be prepared in advance. For example, chop the crab sticks and eggs, and wash the salad. When guests arrive, all that's left to do is assemble the salad and add the dressing.
