Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Thinly slice the meat, potatoes and carrots into 3 cm thick pieces, and the onion into 1-1.5 cm thick pieces.
Step 2:
Grease a frying pan with vegetable oil, add the meat and fry until half cooked.
Step 3:
Add the vegetables, stir and fry for a few minutes, then add water.
Step 4:
Add soy sauce, mirin and sugar, a packet of dashi, stir gently, cover and cook for 10-15 minutes.
Step 5:
When the vegetables are done, remove the broth packet and divide the dish among bowls.
Cooking tips
Instead of beef, you can use pork or chicken, also thinly sliced.
Instead of the packet of dashi, you can add a tablespoon of dry dashi.
