Step-by-step recipe

Step 1:

Baklava-Step 1 Place flour in a bowl.

Step 2:

Baklava-Step 2 Grate cold butter into the flour using a coarse grater.

Step 3:

Baklava-Step 3 Rub the butter and flour together with your hands to form crumbs.

Step 4:

Baklava - Step 4 Add vanilla sugar and baking powder, mix well with your hands.

Step 5:

Baklava - Step 5 Make a well in the crumb mixture, add the yolks and sour cream, and knead into a soft dough.

Baklava - Step 6 Divide the dough into five parts – three small and two larger.

Cooking tips

If the dough sticks to your hands a little, this is normal. Don't add extra flour – it will be added during rolling.

Walnuts can also be crushed with a rolling pin. The nut crumbs should be neither too fine nor too coarse.
