Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Separate the eggs into yolks and whites.
Step 2:
Add salt, vanilla and regular sugar to the yolks and beat with a whisk until white.
Step 3:
Add 200 grams of softened butter.
Step 4:
Quench the baking soda with lemon juice and add to the mixture.
Step 5:
Sift flour into the mixture and knead the dough.
Step 6:
Divide the dough into 4 parts, place the fourth part in a bag and put it in the freezer.
Step 7:
Roll the remaining dough into a log, cut into strips, and arrange them on the bottom of a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Then press evenly to form the edges. Refrigerate the pan with the dough.
Step 8:
Beat the egg whites with a tablespoon of sugar until stiff peaks form.
Step 9:
Peel the apples and grate them on a coarse grater.
Step 10:
Place the apples on the dough in an even layer.
Step 11:
Place the whipped egg whites on top and spread evenly.
Step 12:
Grate the frozen dough on top and spread it over the surface.
Step 13:
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 45 minutes.
Cooking tips
You can separate the yolks from the whites by pouring them from shell to shell or by pouring them onto your gloved fingers.
You can roll out the dough a little and then spread it over the bottom of the pan – do what you are most accustomed to and comfortable with.
