Step-by-step recipe:
Step 1:
Prepare the dough: In a bowl, combine the milk, sugar, and yeast. Leave in a warm place for 15 minutes.
Step 2:
Sift the flour: Sift the flour through a sieve into a bowl.
Step 3:
Add butter: Add butter and knead the dough until it forms crumbs.
Step 4:
Knead the dough: Add the dough to the flour and knead the dough until smooth.
Step 5:
Place the dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Step 6:
Prepare the filling: Clean and cut the mackerel into small cubes.
Step 7:
Also cut the onion into small cubes.
Step 8:
In a bowl, combine the mackerel, onion, salt, and pepper and mix well. Let sit for 30 minutes.
Step 9:
Divide the dough: Divide the dough into two parts. One part should be larger.
Step 10:
Roll out the dough: Roll out the larger part of the dough and place it in a greased pan.
Step 11:
Place the filling: Place the filling on the dough.
Step 12:
Cover with dough: Roll out the second piece of dough and cover the filling. Gently pinch the two layers of dough together.
Step 13:
Brush with egg: Brush the pie with beaten egg.
Step 14:
Use a fork to make holes all over the pie.
Step 15:
Bake: Bake in the oven at 190°C for 35–45 minutes.
Cooking tips:
For a more tender dough, use high-quality flour.
Don't overdo it with sugar in the filling, otherwise the pie will be too sweet.
Use sharp knives to slice the mackerel and onion into neat pieces.
Experiment with fillings: add vegetables, meat or other types of fish for a variety of flavors.
