Origin of the recipe

Pork is a very popular meat in Asia, and it's also a favorite in Korea. This tender and flavorful meat becomes even more delicious when marinated in garlic, chili, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Ginger is often added to the marinade. Jaeuk bokkeum pork is best enjoyed with rice or kimchi.

Make this flavorful and spicy Korean stir-fried pork, Jeyuk Bokkeum, which is great with rice or a vegetable side dish.

Step-by-step recipe

Step 1:

Cut half an onion into thick half rings, half a carrot into longitudinal slices, the white part of two green onion shoots into narrow short strips, and the hot pepper into rings slightly diagonally.

Step 2:

Cut the pork into small pieces.

Step 3:

Place a tablespoon of crushed garlic in a bowl, add 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of sugar, a tablespoon of sesame oil, black pepper to taste and mix.

Step 4:

Add the pork and mix well with your hand.

Step 5:

Place a deep frying pan or wok over medium heat, add a little vegetable oil, add the meat and fry until almost done.

Step 6:

Add ground chili to taste, stir and fry a little more.

Step 7:

Add the vegetables and quickly stir-fry over high heat.

Step 8:

Add white and black sesame seeds and sesame oil.

Step 9:

Serve with rice and any other toppings or just as is.

Cooking tips

You can use any vegetables you like.

It is better to mix the pork with spices using a gloved hand so that the spices do not soak into the skin.

For a richer flavor, you can leave the meat with spices in a cool place for an hour.

If you don't like food that's too spicy, you can skip adding chili powder or add just a little.
