These walnut and chocolate chip cookies may require a bit of prep, but they're actually easy for anyone to bake. These delicate and fragrant cookies will be the perfect addition to any tea party!
Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Cut 150 grams of dark chocolate into pieces.
Step 2:
Break or chop the walnut kernels into pieces.
Step 3:
Break an egg into a mug, add salt and stir.
Step 4:
Place cake flour (a mixture of regular flour and cornstarch) in a bowl, add baking powder, baking soda and mix well.
Step 5:
Soften the butter with a whisk, add the white and brown sugar, and mix until the mixture has a grainy consistency.
Step 6:
Pour in the egg in three portions, stirring with a whisk.
Step 7:
Sift the flour mixture through a sieve into the bowl with the resulting mass.
Step 8:
Mix the dough with a spatula using cutting motions to form crumbs.
Step 9:
Add chocolate and nuts, stir lightly, cover with film and refrigerate for an hour.
Step 10:
Divide the dough into 6 parts, approximately 90 g each.
Step 11:
Form into rough balls and place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Step 12:
Bake for 15 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius. The cookies should be easy to break apart when done.
Step 13:
After removing from the oven, let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 15 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Transfer the cookies to a serving platter and serve!
Cooking tips
To prevent the cookies from becoming too dense, mix regular flour with cornstarch. This will create a similar product to the commercial "cake flour" found in stores overseas.
Instead of a chocolate bar, you can use ready-made chocolate chips or crumbs.
For kneading the dough, the butter must be warmed to room temperature.
Place the balls on the baking sheet at a sufficient distance from each other, as they will spread during baking.
