Soft cookies as we know them today have a long history, and their origins can be traced back to various cultures that made sweet pastries.

Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Let the butter soften or microwave it for 10-15 seconds.
Step 2:
Place the butter in a bowl and mash with a fork.
Step 3:
Add egg, sugar, sour cream to the butter and mix.
Step 4:
Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl.
Step 5:
Knead the dough and place it on a baking sheet.
Step 6:
Use your hands to stretch the dough until it is 0.7-1 cm thick.
Step 7:
Use a fork to make a pattern on the surface of the dough and bake for 20 minutes at 180 degrees.
Step 8:
Cut into squares and enjoy.
Cooking tips
To prevent cookies from sticking to the baking sheet, use parchment paper. And don't forget to preheat the oven!
The pattern on the surface can be made in the form of “diamonds”, which is convenient for subsequent cutting, or in any other way (or not at all, but simply sprinkle with powdered sugar or finely grated chocolate).
