Finely chop half an onion.

Melt a piece of butter in a frying pan, fry the onion until golden brown and place in a bowl.
Step 3:
Peel two large potatoes, cut them into large pieces and boil them.
Step 4:
Mash the boiled potatoes into a puree.
Step 5:
Add fried onions and 30g of breadcrumbs and 30g of powdered Parmesan.
Step 6:
Beat one egg, add salt, pepper and mix well.
Step 7:

Place large pieces of cooked ham over the potatoes, overlapping each other.
Step 10:
Cover the ham with a layer of coarsely grated mozzarella, leaving only a small edge. Season with pepper.
Step 11:
Fold the edge of the paper with the contents, press, then continue to fold and press, gradually releasing the paper, then cover the roll with the opposite edge and press again.

Turn the roll over so the flat side is facing up.
Step 13:
Seal the ends of the roll, giving it the shape of a round pie.
Step 14:
Place the roll on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place a layer of breadcrumbs on top.
Step 15:
Using thread, make an indented pattern in the form of a diagonal mesh on the top of the roll.
Step 16:
Place the roll in the oven and bake for about 25 minutes at 180 degrees.
Step 17:
Remove the roll from the oven, garnish with a sprig of basil and serve.
Cooking tips
You can add additional fillings to the roll to your liking. Vegetarians can use grilled vegetables, mushrooms, tomatoes, olives, and more instead of ham. Make the pattern deep enough, but don't press too hard, or the melted cheese may leak out.
