Cookies aren't just the usual round or square pieces. With a little imagination, you can create a truly delicious table decoration. Make these simple shortbread cookies in the shape of chrysanthemum flowers.
Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Break 2 eggs into a bowl.
Step 2:
Add 80 g of sugar and mix with a whisk.
Step 3:
Pour in the melted butter.
Step 4:
Add vanilla and salt. Stir.
Step 5:
Sift the flour and baking powder mixture into a bowl. Stir with a spatula.
Step 6:
Knead the dough with your hand until smooth.
Step 7:
Place the dough on a sheet of paper, cover with another and roll out with a rolling pin into a rectangular sheet 2 mm thick.
Step 8:
Cut the dough into strips with a pizza cutter.
Step 9:
Dust the surface with flour, lay out a strip of dough and fold it in half.
Step 10:
Use a spatula to make parallel cuts on the fold side.
Step 11:
Roll the cut strip into a roll.
Step 12:
Repeat the operation with the remaining strips, place them on a baking sheet with the fringe facing up and bake for 20 minutes at 180 degrees.
Step 13:
Dust the cookies with powdered sugar and serve.
Cooking tips
After rolling out the dough, trim the edges evenly.
The optimal size for the strips would be 25 x 5 cm, but you can try making them smaller, although then the flower may not turn out as beautiful.
