Pizza Margherita
Origin of the recipe
Legend has it that this classic Italian pizza was named after Queen Margherita of Savoy, who visited Naples in 1889 and decided to try some "common" food. She particularly enjoyed the pizza with tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil, which was promptly named in her honor. Whether this was true or not, this pizza, with its colors reminiscent of the Italian flag, is still loved worldwide!

Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Sift the flour into a bowl.
Step 2:
Add a pinch of salt to the flour and mix.
Step 3:
In a separate bowl, mix warm water and yeast.
Step 4:
Pour the diluted yeast into the flour and mix.
Step 5:
Add 50 ml of olive oil and knead the dough.
Step 6:
Place the kneaded dough in a warm place.
Step 7:
After 30-40 minutes, knead the dough lightly and roll it out with your hands or a rolling pin into a round pizza base 3-5 mm thick, remembering to leave some dough on the edges for the sides, which should be slightly raised.
Step 8:
Let's prepare the sauce. Add tomato paste, salt, sugar, olive oil, and basil to a blender and mix.
Step 9:
Spread the sauce over the rolled out dough, leaving the edges clean.
Step 10:
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater and pour it over the sauce, without touching the sides.
Step 11:
Transfer the pizza to a baking sheet.
Step 12:
Bake for 10-12 minutes in an oven preheated to 240 degrees.
Cooking tips
Don't add too much cheese, otherwise the cheese may overpower the flavor of the sauce and you'll end up with a completely different pizza.
You can choose any cheese, but the classic version is mozzarella. Sometimes Parmesan is added to mozzarella.
