Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Roll out the store-bought or pre-made dough to a 3-5 mm thick circle. Place the pizza crust on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Step 2:
Chop the onion.
Step 3:
Pour oil into a frying pan and add the onion. Fry the onion over medium heat until golden.
Step 4:
Cut the sausages or wieners into 2-4 pieces, depending on their length. Place the sausages along the edge of the dough, cut side to cut side, to form a circle.
Step 5:
Wrap the sausages in the dough, from the outside in.
Step 6:
Use a knife to cut the dough between the sausages. Cut the remaining sausages evenly along with the dough until you have pieces 2-3 cm long.
Step 7:
Turn the sausages cut side in and out without tearing them from the dough.
Step 8:
Pour the tomato sauce over the dough, spreading it throughout the entire inside.
Step 9:
Place a saucepan over the heat, combine the cream, mustard, and mozzarella, and stir. Finely chop or grate the mozzarella.
Step 10:
Melt the contents of the ladle, but try not to bring it to a boil.
Step 11:
Pour the cream sauce over the tomato sauce and spread evenly.
Step 12:
Thinly slice the pickled cucumbers and arrange them evenly on the pizza.
Step 13:
Cut the sausages into slices and place on the pizza.
Step 14:
Top the pizza toppings with golden-fried onions.
Step 15:
Coat the edges of the pizza with egg wash. Use a silicone brush for easy brushing.
Step 16:
Bake for 20 minutes at 180 degrees.
Cooking tips
When adding sauces, be careful not to mix them. They should overlap. You can experiment with the amount of sauce, as everyone has their own preferences.
It's best to choose sausages that are not too cheap and that have a uniform consistency. Uneven sausages can taste significantly different from regular ones, and the result won't resemble a classic hot dog; they might also crumble.
