Origin of the recipe

It is believed that dulce de leche originated accidentally when milk and sugar were left on the stove for too long, causing them to caramelize. Step-by-step recipe

Step 1:

Dulce de Leche-Step 1 Place sugar in a frying pan and heat over low heat, stirring until completely melted.

Step 2:

Step 4:

Dulce de Leche-Step 4 Add condensed milk, stirring constantly, bring to a boil over medium heat and cook until thickened.

Cooking tips

The oil should be at room temperature.

Add milk to the pan gradually, in three additions, stirring to avoid lumps.

Do not substitute sweetened condensed milk with anything.

Use a spatula to constantly scrape the mixture from the edges of the pan towards the center.
