Bread is usually thought of as either a sandwich base or a side dish. Try this bread, which is delicious on its own, combining the aroma of garlic with the rich, gooey texture of melted cheese. Plus, it won't crumble under the knife because you don't even have to cut it!
Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Pour 140 ml of warm milk into a bowl, add a tablespoon of instant yeast, one and a half tablespoons of sugar and stir with a spatula until dissolved.
Step 2:
Beat in the egg and mix.
Step 3:
Add 300 g of bread flour and one and a half teaspoons of salt.
Step 4:
Gently mix the salt with the flour, and then mix everything together with a spatula.
Step 5:
Knead the dough with your hands directly in the bowl until all the flakes disappear.
Step 6:
Add 20g of room temperature butter and 40g of cream cheese and mix with your hands in a bowl.
Step 7:
Place the dough on a surface and knead thoroughly. The dough should become smooth.
Step 8:
Return the dough ball to the bowl, cover with film and place in a warm place (35-36 degrees) to rise, increasing in size by 2-3 times.
Step 9:
Place 70g of butter in a clean bowl, add two tablespoons of crushed garlic, a tablespoon of honey, a tablespoon of chopped parsley and mix well.
Step 10:
Place the risen dough on the surface and knead lightly to remove gas bubbles.
Step 11:
Sprinkle the dough with flour and roll it out with a rolling pin to a rectangle 6-7 mm thick.
Step 12:
Cover the dough with an even layer of the prepared garlic sauce.
Step 13:
Grate 140 grams of mozzarella cheese, partly on a medium grater, partly on a coarse grater, and sprinkle it over the sauce - first fine shavings, then coarse ones.
Step 14:
Cut the dough into squares with a pizza cutter.
Step 15:
Stack the squares and place them vertically in a rectangular loaf pan, cover with plastic wrap and let rise at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
Step 16:
Brush the top of the bread with egg.
Step 17:
Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) for approximately 30 minutes. Remove the bread from the oven, remove the pan, brush the top of the bread with 10 grams of melted butter, and sprinkle with parsley.
Cooking tips
The egg and butter for the dough should be at room temperature so that the cold doesn't interfere with mixing the ingredients and the dough rising. The best way to knead the dough is by stretching it, grabbing it by the edge and rolling it over the rest of the dough, as if you were washing clothes on a board. If you want the bread sweeter, you can add a little sugar to the honey.
