Sweet bread with chocolate
Origin of the recipe
Sweet bread with chocolate, or chocolate bread, has its roots in baking traditions that have evolved over centuries in different cultures. The baking of sweet bread dates back to ancient times, when people began adding honey and fruit to dough. Chocolate as we know it today appeared later. The first mentions of cocoa beans date back to ancient Mesoamerican civilizations, such as the Mayans and Aztecs. They used cocoa to make drinks, but its widespread use in confectionery only began in the 19th century, when chocolate became available in solid form. Sweet bread with chocolate became especially popular in Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries. During this time, recipes began to appear that used chocolate as a filling or addition to the dough. Different countries have their own variations of this dish. For example, in France, "pain au chocolat" is known—a layered bread with chocolate, while in Italy, there is "pane dolce" with a chocolate filling.

Step-by-step recipe
Step 1:
Place a tablespoon of instant dry yeast in a bowl and add most of the warm water.
Step 2:
Beat 2 eggs, add a tablespoon of condensed milk, 80 grams of warm milk and mix everything well with a whisk.
Step 3:
Add 300 grams of bread flour and mix.
Step 4:
Add two pinches of salt and 70 grams of melted butter, stir.
Step 5:
Add the remaining water and stir to form a sticky dough.
Step 6:
Cover the bowl with the dough tightly and put it in a warm place (35-36 degrees) for 1 hour, until the volume of the dough increases by 2-3 times.
Step 7:
Stir the dough with a spatula to remove gas bubbles.
Step 8:
Gradually add 100 grams of finely chopped chocolate. Stir until evenly combined.
Step 9:
Fill two round molds, completely lined with parchment paper, halfway with the batter. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and cover with a towel for 20-30 minutes until the batter rises to the top.
Step 10:
Bake in an oven preheated to 190 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
Step 11:
Remove the bread from the pans and serve.
Cooking tips
Add water gradually to control the dough's consistency. Use warm milk and water (not hot, as this will kill the yeast), and keep the remaining ingredients at room temperature. This will ensure easy mixing and a good rise. Add salt and butter last, as they slow fermentation.
